One of the great things about having a burgeoning Downtown is traveling to other great downtowns and exploring what makes other citys’ hearts beat. This week, DTC will be feeling the beat of Asheville, NC for Moogfest, an annual celebration of art, music, technology and Robert Arthur “Bob” Moog, the inventor of the Moog synthesizer and founding father of electronic music, who lived the last 30 years of his life in Asheville.
This festival is taking place April 23-27 at various venues throughout downtown Asheville, and features not only concerts like a traditional festival, but also daytime speakers, film viewings, panel discussion, visual and audio installations, and 3D concerts. Featuring musical guests like Kraftwerk, M.I.A., Flying Lotus, Giorgio Morodor, Chic featuring Niles Francis and presenters like Janelle Monae, Simpsons and Futurama writer David X. Cohen, and more, Moogfest promises to be a feast for the ears, eyes and mind.
DTC will be keeping you updated on what’s going on in Asheville at Moogfest and also keeping an eye out for great ideas to bring back to our own glorious urban core. And of course, enjoying the sights, sounds and delights of what just might be the AV nerd’s most perfect festival in America.
