When and how did you meet?

We met after a series of small world coincidences. After graduating from pharmacy school, I moved back to Pensacola in 2020 for my residency. I moved in with my best friend of more than a decade, Shelby, and her coworker, Teresa. Marcus had gone to middle school with Shelby when their parents were stationed in England, and Teresa had gone to high school and Florida State University with him. Marcus had remained friends with both girls and promptly reached out to them about their new roommate. After that, it took about two and half years, a few Bumble messages, three failed attempts at a first date, meeting my parents on Interstate 10 and a wedding in Pennsylvania to seal the deal!

Tell us more about your engagement.

Marcus is a pilot in the United States Air Force and had always joked about taking me up flying with him one day. On November 10, 2024, that’s exactly what he did. He rented a plane and flew us out to Panama City for a fun little lunch date. Meanwhile, friends and family were preparing Marcus’ parent’s house in Niceville for the proposal. With a beautiful view of the Boggy Bayou, flower petals were on the ground next to the shore where Marcus got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Everything that happened next was a blur, but the sweetest surprise was our dog, Bindi, running down to the water from the house to greet us. Immediately after, friends and family came down from the house and celebrated with us the rest of the evening.

Where did you get married, and what was the theme of your wedding—colors, style and any special details?

We got married at Supposey Warehouse Gardens in January. We wanted to keep the details simple and classic. We had tossed around the idea of doing a jewel-toned theme, but ultimately decided we preferred the simplicity of the white, blues and golds. We also knew that having our two dogs, Bindi and Ozzy, as a major part of our day was a must even if they couldn’t physically be there for the events. Throughout our reception, people could find our dogs on the dance floor, the cake or even at the bar!

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

Our favorite part of the wedding was reading our vows during the ceremony. Marcus’ only strong opinion regarding wedding planning was that we write our own vows and read them at the ceremony. Despite the nerves leading up to the big moment, it’s something I’m so grateful he pushed us to do.

What advice would you give to newly engaged couples to help make their wedding day truly special?

Marcus and I did a private dance after the reception ended while everyone went outside to get ready for the send-off. Having this moment to decompress after all the events and remind ourselves what the evening was truly about is a moment we’ll never forget. You don’t get a lot of private moments together unless you schedule them. Give yourselves a private moment together (or a few!) to really appreciate the day and the love it’s about.
